Conceptual Statement
Theme: The project will be a mixture of dynamic forms that represent cultures in a hybrid, indirect way, in order to celebrate the multi-cultural nature of Abu-Dhabi. It will also have a modern, contemporary appearance in addition of using conventional elements to imply history. Not to mention the site integration that the project is making with the surrounding context, merging and creating unity and harmony.
Hybridism Definitions:
Linguistic Meaning:
-The state or quality of being hybrid-outrage on nature, an unnatural product
Hybridism mainly means mixing two things different from each other and the product is something that is neither one of the two mixed things but has their qualities, and to relate that to architecture basically it is represented by using different materials and assorted forms.The relation between culture and hybridism is that each civilization has its own, different, distinctive culture and by bringing them all together at one spot hybridism is created, and the result is a building that has something from each culture but implemented in a total different way.
Vagueness definitions:
Linguistic Meaning:
-Not clearly expressed; inexplicit.- Lacking definite shape, form, or character; indistinct
Vagueness can be expressed in a building through the interior circulation or the exterior appearance, various shapes compound together in a way that seems inexplicable and bizarre. But mainly vagueness will be much more shown in the circulation to add the element of surprise and to provide the process of exploring and the feeling of anticipation. The discovery of cultures is a mysterious and vague process. That is during this journey a lot of things come along, things that are unexpected and sort of abrupt, not to mention that when one is exploring he is not fully aware of what he is about to see or witness. And the journey of discovering different cultures that existed in different eras is full of mystery and vagueness.
